SAN FRANCISCO, CA, April 22, 2008 – Xoom, a leader in online money transfers, announced today their partnership with Banco de Crédito BCP (BCP) in Peru, adding over 250 new locations to their network and same day bank deposit service to a BCP account.
The partnership with BCP increased the number of cash pick up locations in Xoom’s Peru from 325 to over 579 locations. The new locations include BCP’s bank offices. “We now have one of the largest networks in all of Peru and are focused on telling Peruvians about our service,” said Theresa Pasinosky, Sr. Marketing Manager, Latin America for Xoom.
In addition, the partnership allows consumers to use Xoom to send money directly to a beneficiary’s checking or savings account at BCP. The money is normally available in the beneficiary’s bank account the same business day.
“We are proud to welcome Banco de Crédito BCP to our network. By adding BCP, we provide our customers with the best possible coverage in all of Peru. It’s part of our commitment to become the best choice for sending money,” said Julian King, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development for Xoom.
Banco de Crédito BCP (BCP) is the most recent addition to the network of payment agents in Peru that includes Interbank and BBVA Banco Continental.
“Xoom is the first online remittance company that we accept at Banco de Crédito BCP. With Xoom, the sender goes online. But for the recipient it’s traditional—they pick up the money in cash at a BCP office or agent location,” said Karla Bermudez, Product Manager, Remittances at Banco de Crédito BCP.
Xoom offers online money transfers through their website www.xoom.com, which is available in Spanish. Xoom simplifies the process of sending money by allowing customers to enter the dollar amount, recipient’s information and payment information through an Internet-enabled computer. Money transfers to Peru start at $2.99. Customers can send up to $2,500 and can choose from a variety of ways to fund the transaction, such as a checking account, credit card or PayPal.
